Transforming a Two-Car and Single Garage with Epoxy Flooring in Concord, NC

When it comes to garage flooring, nothing beats the durability, aesthetics, and ease of maintenance that epoxy provides. In this recent project in Concord, NC, our team at United Floor Coatings revitalized a two-car garage and a single-car garage by replacing an aging DIY floor coating with a premium epoxy flake system. The results? A stunning, long-lasting surface that enhances both the functionality and curb appeal of the space.

Project Overview: From Worn-Out to Wow!

The homeowners initially had a DIY garage floor coating that had seen better days. Over time, it had yellowed, stained, and lost its original appeal. They wanted a high-performance solution that would not only look great but also stand the test of time. After consulting with our team, they chose our Loon flake blend, a stylish and modern choice that complements various home styles.

Our Installation Process

To ensure a flawless finish, we followed a meticulous installation process:

Surface Preparation:

We started by grinding the old DIY coating off the concrete surface using our industrial-grade diamond grinders. This step is crucial for ensuring a strong bond between the new epoxy system and the substrate. Any cracks or imperfections were repaired to create a smooth, even surface.

Moisture Vapor Barrier Application:

To prevent moisture-related issues, we applied a moisture vapor barrier epoxy basecoat. This step is essential, especially in areas with fluctuating humidity levels, as it prevents peeling or bubbling over time.

Flake Broadcast:

A full broadcast of 1/4" Loon flake blend was applied, completely covering the basecoat to create a uniform, slip-resistant surface. This decorative flake system not only enhances durability but also adds a visually appealing texture.

Durable Polyaspartic Topcoat:

The final step was sealing the surface with a high-solids polyaspartic topcoat. This premium coating ensures UV resistance, meaning the floor will not yellow or fade over time, even with prolonged sun exposure. The topcoat also provides chemical resistance, making it easy to clean and maintain.

Client Testimonial: A 5-Star Experience

Here’s what our satisfied client had to say about their new garage floors:

Thoroughly impressed with every from start to finish. Top notch professional work and materials. The employees are very professional and were very respectful of our property. We highly recommend United Floor Coatings.” – 5-Star Google Review

When you are designing a commercial space, it’s critical to understand how the colors, features, furniture, and other details in the room will impact customer experience. The reality is that first impressions are set from the moment someone walks through the door. Every detail can contribute to a positive experience, including the flooring color and materials that you choose. A good design can help your business by influencing the person’s mood, behavior, and decision-making when they are interacting with your company. You want to ensure that each customer has a positive association with your business, which means that you need to choose the colors and features that will set a tone that aligns with your brand. Setting the Mood with Warm or Cool Tones What is the mood that you want someone to feel when they visit your business? The color tones will play a role in their experience: Warm Colors: You can create a sense of excitement, energy, and urgency with warm tones, such as reds, oranges, and yellows. These are the colors that are often used in entertainment venues, fast-food restaurants, and retail stores. Cool Colors: On the other hand, cooler tones promote a sense of calmness and trust. Examples of these colors include blues, greens, and purples. These are the hues that are often used in offices, healthcare clinics , and any type of luxury business. Neutral Colors: Another option is to use neutral hues, such as white, black, gray, and beige. These colors create a professional feeling and sophistication. Neutrals are often used for upscale businesses and corporate settings. The Best Flooring Products for Your Industry In addition to the colors and tones of your flooring, also consider how the patterns and brightness of the flooring have a psychological impact: Lighter flooring colors will make your business feel larger and more spacious. These colors can help customers feel at ease when they are in your building. Darker flooring colors create contrast and add an elegant touch. Even though they make the space feel a little smaller, it can be a benefit if you want to create a more intimate setting. Patterned flooring can be helpful if you want to promote a certain flow for foot traffic. The patterns in the flooring will encourage customers to move in a specific direction. Even though it might seem like a small detail, the design of your floor can have an undeniable impact on the overall experience in your commercial space. Flooring design isn’t only about aesthetics – it’s also a psychological tool that can impact how customers feel when they visit your location.
